Yes manually applying FW needs a wired PC and web browser. MS Edge or Firefox is recommended.
However other say v2.1.5.2 has same issue. Others posted that they contacted NG support and asked for a beta that was provided to help resolve this. Something you might reach out to NG support first and ask about.

Thank you for these details. Would you recommend I update to the latest firmware first? My guess is that Netgear are going to recommend that as a next step anyway.
Also, how do I contact support to request a beta firmware? The phone numbers are for business users and every other link I see leads me back to these forums.
Thank you!!

OK I am attempting to update the firmware to the latest release version before contacting support.
The installation instructions state that, "The correct firmware file uses an .img or .chk extension.
I found the instructions at this URL: https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/CAX80/CAX80_UM_EN.pdf
Then I downloaded the firmware file from this URL:
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/cax80#download
The downloaded file is a .zip file.
When I expand that, there is an .html file and a .rar file.
When I expand the .rar file, there is a .bin file.
There is no .img or .chk in the download package.
What file should I upload to the device itself?!
