Changing DNS in router settings

I went to namebench to select a new DNS Server, and an error message says my router is preventing me from download choices. Nighthawk X4S AC3200. Any ideas? Comcast says it isn't them

    do you have a screenshot of the error? 

    you can always change the DNS on your laptop irrespective of the router.
