I was having slow Internet/Wi-Fi and I reset the modem and then the light was solid green on the bottom and I got 600 Mb per second speed. That was a few days ago and now it’s back to flashing Amber a...

"Amber. A powered-on device is connected to the Ethernet port at 10/100 Mbps."
Something at the cable in between or your host router needs checked.

Even though it worked for 4 days or so and was running at 713 mps? Why would it suddenly not run . I will call them but seems strange

Can be a bad cable or something at the host router side.
Post those logs when you can.
- GirlBOct 14, 2024AspirantPer Spectrum, input is 600 mps. No problems they can see.

Something to check with the router mfr then.
If you connect a ethernet connected PC that supports 1000Mpbs to the back of the CM modem, Does the bottom LED show AMBER or WHITE? - GirlBOct 14, 2024AspirantI have a MacBook Pro so have to figure out how to connect to it. The things that gets me is when the bottom light on the modem is solid green it runs at 600 mbps. When it’s flashing amber it runs at max 100 mbps. How can that be anything but a problem with the modem?

Possible bad cable or loose connection or the router that is connected to the modem. Will help to check a PC directly connected to the back of the modem with a good quality LAN cable.
They have USB to ethernet adapters for Macs that no longer have ethernet ports. I have a couple for my Mac Book as well.
- GirlBOct 14, 2024AspirantThank you! I will get a converter.
So if the modem is fine why do I get the amber flashing light at the bottom amber appears to mean speeds of 100mbps max? But that one time a few days ago it was green and speeds were 600 mbps? It worked for a few days so probably no issue with the cable or connection or router. - FURRYe38Oct 15, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Yes. Means the connection rate detected by the modem from the router is at 100Mbps.
As mentioned before, something cable wise or at the router you have connecting maybe causing the drop from 1000Mpbs to 100Mbps. Swap LAN cables and try a different device connected to the modem to check this.
Good Luck.
