cm1000v2 modem spectrum dropping connections

I keep losing internet connection with my modem. I'm using spectrum, it appears I'm up to date on my firmware (V1.01.03). My router does maintain its connection to my devices, just no internet connection at the modem. When I go to my modem to restart it, all the lights are off except for the network light at the bottom, but it'll be a solid orange light, not its proper green. When I call spectrum, all they did was send a guy who looked at my set up and said, "I'm not qualified to look at this." because I do have the modem in a network cabinet, but the idea of a network cabinet in a home seems to freak spectrums guys out in my location...  Anyways I did get him to look at the cable connection, he said it's not on their end it has to be my equipment. I'll be honest I don't think it is since the modem is less than a year old and I know for a fact that all my ethernet does indeed, but on the off chance it is, how best can i test it and or fix it?
