CM1100 problems with Xfinity

Hello all,

Recently purchased two CM1100 modems from costco to ultilize gigspeed at both of my addresses.

Long story short, it has been a very frustrating two weeks. I have only been able to get top download speeds of 500mbps at most.

Most of the time even around 70-150mbps on one service.

Steps I have taken:

  • power cycles
  • calling comcast to reprovision
  • factory reset
  • testing directly plugged into the modem with a mac book pro

At this point i'm lossing sleep. How could both modems be faulty (possible but must be a longshot).

Also, I have read about many CM1100/CM1000 issues with comcast, but no real solutions.

Would line amplifiers also cause problems?

Please help!

    1. yes, line amplifiers can cause issues. So can splitters and attenuators. Your best bet is to remove all of them, directly connect to the coax where it enters the home. This prevents wiring within the home from being the issue. Once that's done, take a screen snip of the cable connection page and post it back here with your logs. We can take a look at them for you.

    2. Are you using link aggregation? its been known to be problematic with comcast on more than just netgear devices. If you're using that, disable it.

    3. What speeds are you paying for?

    4. How are you testing the speeds? I'd recommend speedtest.xfinity.com or dslreports.com

    5. what router are you running through? For setting up/testing speeds, I'd directly connect to the cm1100 to ensure it isn't router issues causing the problem.
