I am having similar but worst issue. Despite it is one of the comcast compatible modems. Neither comcast not netgear technician were able to fix the issue. No or intermittent connectivity. So i am returning modem, router, and canceling my comcast. Going with ATT.

May have been a bad modem.
Cabling should have been checked.
