CM1200 - signal going to my wifi router, but not directly to my laptop

My modem is connected to my Linksys router and although I am paying for 1 Gig speed, I rarely get above 100 even when right next to the router.

Wanted to test the speed when modem is connected directly to laptop.

However, when I connected the laptop directly to the modem with an ethernet cable I did not get an internet connection.

When I connected the laptop directly to the wireless router with an ethernet cable (and turned off wifi on the laptop), I got a connection.  Seems to me like the port on the laptop works.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

  • Disconnect the external wifi router from the CM modem and connect the PC to LAN port #1 on the CM modem. Power OFF the modem for 30 seconds then back ON. Your PC should get Internet services.

Contact the Mfr of the router for additional help and information as well for there products.

Use same process to connect a wifi router to the CM modem.

        Enjoy.
