I'm experiencing consistent/severe latency variation and packet loss. Ping/tracert/pingplotter tests indicate this is occurring at the modem. I'm going through my modem logs and signal data, and need...

your right in that you have a bunch of errors. Way to many. If you move the cm1200 to where recommended and remove anything in line and still get that many, your ISP needs to check your line.

I have a Mediacom technician scheduled for Friday.
In the meantime, I'd like to test the modem as you suggested, but I'm not sure if I can. The box cable line runs outside my house to this - I believe this is a filter? From here the coax runs into my basement to my modem. Should I bypass that filter(?) and test the modem?

its a MoCa grounding block.
It potentially could add interference but its usually in the ISP's box. I'd leave it alone and let the technician change that. Just directly connect at the first point inside the home.

The cabling into my home from outside is a double-edged sword of well-organized and well-hidden/inaccessible (photo attached). So I can't tell if there's any filter/splitter or other interference creating situation going on. How do others deal with this problem of inaccessibility? Start hammering holes into the wall along the cable run?
