When I had my current modem installed (RCN owned Arris cable modem, very outdated) I asked the technician what brand would be recommended. He told me that Netgear and TP-Link products don't work well together and to avoid them, but I haven't been able to find much to support his statement.
So I'm wondering if there would be any issues running the above wi-fi router with a Netgear CM2000 cable modem. The other option I have been looking at is the Arris S33 but the heat issues I see mentioned so often are very worrying. The CM2000 would be my first choice if there is no compatibility issues.
Thank you.
Your first step is to make certain the CM2000 is on the Astound/RCN list of approved/supported modems.
There should be some user forums with more specific and broader based information than from your install field technician. Maybe try here: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/rcn
From a hardware standpoint, the CM2000 is a DOCSIS 3.1 certified modem and it has a 2.5 Gbps output port. Both will provide you with years of service without going out of date.

The CM2000 is on the small sample list of approved modems. My router also has a 2.5 Gbps port so that's a plus.
I will look at the forum you linked, also.

There is a TP Link Home Network Community forum here: https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/2414

Kitsap is exactly correct at directing you.
From my experience, I haven't had any issues between tp-link and netgear. I don't have that specific router (and I doubt the tech did either) but none of mine had been an issue.
You should be able to use pretty much any router with the cm2000 (if cm2000 is compatible with your service).

Whatever your modem choice, make sure you get a good quality Ethernet cable to connect between the modem and router. Currently available from Amazon, a shielded twisted pair (STP) Cat 6A would work well.

I upgraded to my current router and to 1 gig internet at the same time, so I also bought a nice pair of Cat8 flat cables to go with them.
I did check both the links you provided. Unfortunately the DSLReports site is very limited in the RCN/Astound section. I also went to the TP-Link forums but found next to nothing about my current router, and just a bit on general compatibility.
I think I'm just going to have to go for it and see how it turns out.
