This was done without any notification. so we lost all internet access. The quickest solution was to add the Xfinity modem/router. That required nearly 5 days to acquire. That unit is working well, but it irritates me to be coerced into using their equipment when THEY created the problem! Now I am researching options for restoring utility of my CM500 modem.
Have you heard of this issue from other users? Is there an firmware/software upgrade that may remedy the problem?
I have a bit of computer literacy, so should be able to comprehend your answers.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.

What part of the US are you located in? Xfinity does not just flip a switch and change their systems all over the US from DOSCIS 3.0 to DOSCIS 3.1. Xfinity has too many customers with DOSCIS 3.0 modems and DOSCIS 3.0 set top boxes to orphan them overnight.
The CM500 is still listed here: https://kb.netgear.com/000036375/What-s-the-latest-firmware-version-of-my-NETGEAR-cable-modem-or-modem-router

Lafayette, Indiana - customer service advised they had made local system changes. The CM500 is less than 2 years old.
