CM500 max speed - 300 or 680 mbps

hello. i just need a simple question answered. is the max speed of the CM500 300 mbps or 680 mbps? amazon and review sites say 300, while Netgear's product page says 680. is there something i'm missing somewhere? we're looking to upgrade our plan, and i want to make sure we don't need to upgrade our modem.

thanks.

  • Always go with NG specs.

However check with the ISP first to see what modems they required for higher speeds. 1Gb ISP plans requrire a DOCSIS 3.1 modem, which the CM500 doesn't support. CM1000, 1100 and 1200 are supporting of DOCSIS 3.1 and backwards compatible.

The CM500 is a 16x4 channel modem while the others are 32x8 supprting channels. The CM500 is going on 4 years old as well so ISP support may close in near future. Again something to discuss with your ISP.
