CM500 modem and R6260 Router failure to connect to access point via public IP

hello all Newbee here

Recently I changed my router (NetGear 6020) and Modem due to failure.

I installed the NetGear CM500 modem and the NetGear 6260 (AC1700) router.

My previous setup would allow me to connect to my security access point via my public ip.

The router was set to port foward and static ip for the ap.

The new system will no longer allow me to connect to the ap via my public ip.  Everything is setup the same as the original system.

If I turn on remote management I can connect to my router via my public IP but not to my security ap.
