Is this company so inept that my internet provider blames netgear?
This is the default response by Internet service providers. They don't understand what us going on so they pass the buck.

The WNDR3400v3 router is, as FURRYe38 says, kind of old. Your version dates from 2014, but the first version is from 2010. As well as the security issues, it has slow LAN ports.,
According to Netgear's manual for this device, not always the most reliable source of information, the LAN and WAN ports support only 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX. That makes it slower than many newer internet services and most modern network hardware. This may not matter to you, but be warned that it will hobble you if you ever sign up for faster Internet. It also slows down whatever is going on in your local network. Newer devices support 1000BASE-TX.
Your CM500 modem is certainly faster than your router. So it can support Internet speeds well above anything that your WNDR3400v3 is up to.
Send me a fix or I am going to have to replace this junk with another brand. Covid brains? Thanks for wasting my money.
The fix is for you to move into the 2020s.
A router that lasted a decade or more, that seems like pretty good value for money.
As to "Covid brains", let's hope you recover soon.
