CM500v connection to old OS
I'm trying to establish an ethernet connection with a Macintosh G4 running OS 10.4.11. Is the CM500v router compatible with this device? If so why am I having trouble connecting?

Could be. What address are you trying to access the modems web page? CM modems web page is at 192.168.100.1 usually. Have your PC directly connected to the modem or thru a external router? Try using a different newer PC to connect to the modem as well.
What browser are you using?

"trying"? _How_, exactly? "trying" is not a useful problem
description. It does not say what you did. It does not say what
happened when you did it. As usual, showing actual actions (commands)
with their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be
more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.

"trouble"? What kind of "trouble", when you do what? "connecting"
what to what? See "not a useful problem description [...]", above.

That would barely be a start toward a useful problem description.
Other potentially interesting facts might include whether the Mac thinks
that its Ethernet port is connected to anything. Or its IP address. Or
what the LED indicators on the modem indicate. Or any useful
information at all.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and
look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look
for the LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot". Further reading might not
hurt, either.
