CM600 terrible download speeds
Hey gang,
I just replaced my generic Spectrum cable modem with a Netgear CM600 and ever since then, my download speeds are nothing short of atrocious. We’re supposed to get 400 Mbps, but we’re barely getting 30 Mbps and frequently in the single digits. I’ve reset, rebooted, and reconnected with no joy. The event log looks like a nuclear reactor going critical (see below). Wat do? I have no hair left to pull out.
Model: CM600
Hardware Ver.: 1.02
Firmware: 1.01.14
The event log for today looks like this:
Contact the ISP and have them check the singal and quality up to the modem.
Be sure there or not coax cable line splitters between the ISP service box and the modem.

You were absolutely right--turns out we had two problems: an RG-59 coax cable on a line meant to carry 400 Mbps and the cable had been chewed on by tricksy squirrelses! I suspected a signal drop somewhere--my past experience always pointed to a loose ground--but now I know for sure. Thanks for the tip--you saved what was left of my hair!

Ah ha. Glad you found it. Yes, RG6 is recommended for any internet cabling for cable modems.
Glad its working now. Enjoy. :smileywink:
