Hello, my ISP is telling me they CANNOT update my modem due to it being a customer owned modem.  Does Netgear give their customers the means to update the firmware on their own?

    No. ALL ISPs update cable modem FW. However some ISPs won't update customer owned modems. IF this is the case, either attemp to use the modem on there system, or if it won't work right, use an ISP provided modem.
