CM700 end of life?
I have recently had connection issues with Xfinity and they keep asking about my router (CM700) and they tried telling me today it was at "end of life". Is this true? last time they came out they...

Guess it’s time to upgrade. Might as well get a 4.0 and be future ready.
But any reason why the phone tech would want to prevent a service call tho? I don’t see how it would benefit them in any way. Not saying I agree or disagree, just can’t understand why they’d care one way or the other.
The DOCSIS 4.0 modems are not available at this time. DOCSIS 3.1 is what you can purchase today.
It seems like support is reluctant to schedule truck rolls. It may be more prevalent in different parts of the country due to staffing. When they do get scheduled, often they are cancelled before they actually happen. Locally when they do happen, the Comcast tech visits are accomplished with contractors and not by actual Comcast employees. Also support always threatens a $100 truck roll charge if the problem is the fault of the customer and not the fault of Comcast. Kind of throws a bucket of cold water on the situation.

Ah, I had seen someone mention 4.0 in a Reddit thread and it was 2 years old so I just assumed 4.0 existed by now. Well, at least I won’t waste my time looking for something that doesn’t exist now, so thanks for that.
As far as comcast goes tho, yeah that makes a lot of sense… I really hope my area gets another ISP option soon, there needs to be more competition to stem the price hikes and **bleep**ty service. Like.. I pay $87/mo, you can’t come out and check things and just let me know if I need to upgrade without also charging me $100?? Certainly they can afford 1 freebie a year.

Fiber is not even a gleam in someone's eye and the cable providers have chopped up the pie. None of them have had the need to poach across the dividing lines.
There is a good Xfinity_Comcast sub forum over on Reddit. Success stories do exist there, you just have to wade through the complaints about price increases. It is a good option to avoid the customer support phone line or the on-line chat service. Here is the link to check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/.
