CM700 login failure
I've had this modem since 2022 and it seems that the ethernet port has failed. All was working this morning. I have always been able to log into the GUI but no longer. I moved the modem to a direct co...

Disconnect the ISP coax cable line from the modem.
Press the reset button for 10 seconds then release.
While you have one ethernet connected PC to the modem, give 2 minutes, then see if you can access the modems web page at 192.168.100.1.
If not, then probably needs replacing.

Appreciate the response! I've tired (50+ years of troubleshooting!) all of what you have suggested, more than once, to no avail. Last night I finally gave up and decided to post the relevant details and end result just to be sure I wasn't missing something. Thus, after an hour of the modem sitting (unplugged) I returned it to my telecom rack and re-connected to the router. To my total surprise its working again, but I still don't what was wrong? Temperature could have played a role but I doubt that, my rack is in an unconditioned basement. I can only conclude the ISP (Comcast) failed (not the first time!) despite what they said is working, or there may be an intermittent problem on the PCB. This would not be the first time for (the latter) a board to partially fail... I spent 12 years as a production manager in telecom where I inspected incoming product from our assembler and sometimes I found SMT components poorly soldered to their pads.
For the moment, function has returned but why remains unanswered.

Since the modem seems to be working, Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status and event log page.

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
What is the brand and model of the host wifi router connected to the modem? The ISP has been going under some infrastructure changes over past year plus. I wouldn't put it past them to be causing some odd issues.
The CM700 is getting up in age and maybe at some point, you may want to get it replaced. I also keep a fan under any cable modem I have online. Helps with cooling and stave off HW failures due to heat.

My modem continues to work with little interruption of service. Attached is a portion of the event log from this period describing what happened; I could send the entire log which shows previous events if that is able to reveal any patterns? I say little because I have always seen intermittent drops lasting under a minute, or, when longer, power cycling does restore service. At this time I conclude it was not a modem failure; this fault lies with Comcast (but fixing the problem is what counts!). Also, my router is a D-Link DIR-605L (a freebie!) that I placed into service when I took my older DI-704P OOS, it wasn't working very well so I installed the 605L. I also have a Netgear GS108Ev3 ProSAFE switch daisy-chained off one of the 605L's ports, and I run 5e throughout my network (wired my house with RG6 and Ethernet when I moved 18 years ago!).
Finally, I am not entirely versed on the syntax in the log descriptions but I will continue to educate myself, and would appreciate any additional insight you may have. And I agree, a newer router and/or modem might be worth the expense!
