I believe my internet plan with Comcast is 400 mbps. Comcast send an email saying that I can increase the speed of my download 5-10x by upgrading my modem. 2 of the modems they recommend are the Netgear CM3000 and CBR750. My understanding is that the CBR750 is a combo modem and router, so that would not fit my needs. I have 2 questions about the CM3000:
The CBR supports up to 1Gb ISP Speeds.
1. Would it really increase my internet speeds over the MB8600?
Since the MB8600 only has 1Gb ports, then your max ISP speed will max out at this rate. If the ISP has this package which I don't believe so anymore as they did a split and now only support 800Mpbs and 1.2Gb. So 800Mbps would be something the current modem can handle.
2. If the CM3000 will increase my speeds, how do I find it. I have looked on the internet and I do not see it anywhere. The closest I see is a CM3000. Due to the CM 2000 and 3000 series, they have multi gig WAN ports that support connections higher than 1Gb so if the ISP supports 1.2Gb speeds, then these model modems would be able to handle it. CM3000 has not been released from NG. I presume sometime this year maybe this will come about. The CM2000 and CM2050v are released and supported by the ISP.
