connectivity

I upgraded my acer aspire 5733z to win 10 from win 7, and have connectivity issues.  Modem shows up sometimes but when i put security code  in AND try to connect it say "cannot connect to this network".  Yet it connects to any hotspot with no problem.  INSTALLED a usb device and it connects to modem with no problem.  Anyone have an answer.

    First is it wireless connection or wired. In any case you make sure you have correct driver for NIC and WiFi card. Then because router remembers W7 settings(profile) , you have to redo the configuration under W10. Mke sure you hard reset the router to do that.
