Converting N 600 combination router to MODEM ONLY (model c3700v2)

Due to just buying a well reviewed mesh router system, I want to use my C3700 N600 Modem Router as a MODEM ONLY.  Netgear site advises against it, except under special circumstances.   Why is that? ...

You can change the combo modem to modem only mode. Review the user manual for this infromation. IF you want to run a different router behind the modem, then this would be recommended. Having two routers on the same line can cause problems.
