DOCSIS No WiFi to Laptop

My new HP laptop is unable to connect to WiFi. Took it to Best Buy today and it connected to their internet okay. They Suggested it is my modem that’s not working.

       Is that accurate?  Not a C3700v2?  Look at the product label.

       "unable" is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what
    you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
    showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
    messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
    descriptions or interpretations.

     

       Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,

    and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for
    "Troubleshoot".

     

       Is your (unspecified) "My new HP laptop" the only device with this
    problem?
