Emailing log files, Microsoft Outlook.com address

Has anyone had success with setting up their C6300v2 modem/router to send emails to their outlook.com address? I have tried smtp.office365.com and smtp-mail.outlook.com on port 587 but it won't send...

So in other words.... TURN OFF 2 step verification so that the modem/router can send freely?

    No.

The answer is using an App Password instead of the standard account password for submitting emails like the logs from "machines" like a router - because these can't handle the 2FA authentication access required when using your normal Microsoft password.

At the risk of duplicating my previous reply however - as I have not asked to disable 2FA - correct?

"If yes https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional scroll to App Passwords -> Create a new App Password  (direct link https://account.live.com/Proofs/AppPassword )."

Look Barbara, it's difficult to shoot into the dark and guess what can go wrong when using such "standard" services. I do understand it's difficult for all users because these embedded sendmail implementations are not very informative if things don't work. Under the hood, just some SMTP code would be returned. But this is again out of my control as just yet another community member ...

Under the line, please keep in mind that other service providers like Google does also make use of App Passwords for communication with thier email services where a 2FA process can't be done.
