- Quest77Sep 03, 2023Aspirant
Thanks for the reply, but I am new to this, so I don't understand the reply. Is there reason for the leasing and how would I find out who is leasing? Thanks

To be able to communicate with others, an ethernet network adapter needs to get an IP address from somewhere. Your router acts as DHCP server and assigns IP addresses to everything connected to it. DHCP is dynamic which means, among others, an IP address is valid for a specific time. After that, it either needs to be renewed or dropped. Renewing happens at half-point so if the lease time is 1 day (24 hours), the renewel happens after 12 hours have passed.
