Ethernet light on modem flashing amber

to add to that, it might be the router, it might be the modem, it might be the cable.
Start with the replacing the cable.
Then you'd want to try plugging a pc/device that is gigabit directly into the modem to see if it is indeed on the modem or router side that's causing issues.
