Expected Speed
Hello all, I recently installed a Nighthawk x4-AC3200 C7500 Cable Modem Router. After getting it up and running, I ran a speed test. I am signed up with a Spectrum account that offers 400 mbps....

So you say you hooked up the old modem/router device and got the same results. The same low speeds? it makes me believe its the device you're testing with when that happens.
A lot of wireless speed is based upon the antenna and chipset in the device you're testing with. Thats why its hard to use wireless speeds as speedtesting. If you're device's wireless is only a wireless 2.4ghz based on older technology, its going to be slow. Do you konw the wireless chip in your laptop?
Do you have a different wireless device you can test with that you know if 5ghz and is connecting to the 5ghz? 5ghz has higher bandwidth but lower penetration.
Also, what is your house made of? plaster lathe, brick, hvac, concrete, adobe all do great jobs of blocking wireless signals.

You are right about 5G, I also tested both modems with my phone and with 5G I was able to get 150-170 mbps. Even with my phone (Galaxy Note 8), I was able to get about 20 mbps on 2.4G.

Are you getting to spec speeds on wired speed testing?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since chaning ISP speeds?

When testing from my desktop (ethernet), I am getting 417 mbps and I am supposed to be getting 400 from spectrum so yes, I am getting what I should get.
As for factory reset, I did a factory reset on both the Netgear c7550 and when I went back to the netgear c6300. I even called spectrum each time to send an activation ping for both when I set them each up.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz. I would disable the 2.4Ghz wifi on the modem and test again. This will ensure your wireless device is connecting on the 5ghz radio.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?Try enabling WMM. Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Is there a Airtime Fairness feature on your modem?
