Extremely slow 2.4 GHz network

slow isn't a very good descriptions. some actual speedtests using your 2.4ghz and what device your using can help us determine if its an expected speed or not .
problem with 2.4ghz is that is is much slower than 5ghz and is also more sensitive to interference because there's less channels available in that range.
for instance, my orbi setup usually sees an average speed of around 20-30mbps over 2.4ghz. sometimes I can peak up to 70 but it isn't sustained. Its pretty much useless for streaming. Reason for this is how congested my area is with 2.4ghz signals. But my 5ghz can hit 500-600mbps. big difference.
So what speeds are you actually hitting over 2.4ghz?
what device are you testing with? this is key too as some devices are 1x1 antenna arrangements.
How are you testing? What app/website?
- Thanks for your response. We have an AC1600 WiFi cable modem router. Our service is rated at 100 Mbps, and usually teeter around 75ish when we were connecting before this issue came up. Over the last few weeks, using the Ookla Speed Test app and website that our provider always uses/recommends, we’ve seen anything from as low as 0.37 to 37.8. Tech support with our provider always instructs us to unplug the modem and turn it back on, and that’s usually when we see the higher speeds. Other than that, it usually fluctuates in the 20s, with the occasional initial peak in the 30s and dropping down into the teens and single digits.
The c6250 should easily be able to max out a 100mbps connection.
1. What speed do you get hardwired into the C6250?
2. What speed do you get over 2.4ghz?
3. What speed do you get over 5ghz?
4. What exact device are you using for testing each of these? Again, we need specifics. Slow for you could be fast for someone else. Use numbers and exact model numbers. Some devices use a 1x1 antenna and others use a 2x2 or 3x3 antenna. Which is why you need to be specific.
Also, log into the C6250 and go to the modem's connection page and take a screen snip of your upload/download info including snr/errors/etc. this is important for checking the connection back to the isp. Like I said, the c6250 should easily handle 100mbps.
