firmware removal on CM1000v2
My ISP says I can't use my modem with them because it has firmware from a previous ISP. Is this true? Can firmware from one ISP be removed to allow use with another ISP? If so, how do I do it?

You cannot "remove" a firmware but you can reflash it if you have it

So, you are saying my modem can only be used with the one ISP because it has its firmware in it? To change ISPs, I must have a new modem?

ISP should be able to push there own FW on top of what is already loaded.
Users can't upate FW on there own. Has to be pushed from the ISP. Ask them if you can bring in the modem for them to put FW on it. - plemansFeb 09, 2021Guru - Experienced User
I can't remember which ISP it was but there was an issue with one isp that locked firmwares to ipv4 and their service. It was a couple years ago and haven't heard much about it recently.
What isp did you have and who are you moving to?
