I've heard the Spectrum isn't keen on users having there own modems nor pushes FW to modems that are owned by users and not the ISP.
As suggested, if you feel your modem is not working well or at all. Get into a modem that Spectrum fully supports, a modem only unit if possible. Then get a external router like Netgears Orbi, R/RAX series or XR series routers which are supported by FW updates directly from NG and users can install themselves.

Netgear, what is going on? my information is at risk without the current firmware, my product does not work without the current firmware and spectrum/twc says you are responsible for giving me the firmware update - not them. they refuse to do it, though they have it....how can i get the latest firmware update? this is a great failure - i guess i have to look for a modem/router that provides manual updates? HELP?
