yes, so initially, i purchased a different brand modem/router. spectrum said it wasn't on "their list" of supported, so i purchased this netgear - that was on their list and that they support. they changed their plan without notifiying me. they no longer update any customer owned routers, and asked why don't i have one that they give me? well, theirs don't work, and they were the ones that suggested i buy one they support. so frustrating, but it is what it is.....yes, i will get a spectrum owned modem and go down another notch in my wallet for yet another router. thanks to all for the fast reponse - i loved my netgear product and will probably look at the orbi system - is this best in terms of range and speed?
thanks all!

Ya, some ISPs are like that. Hard to deal with. I would find a different ISP if possible.
If you have to use one of there modems, ask for a modem only. Then get in to a external router. Like Orbi. Orbi 50 series systems have great wifi coverage and performance.
Good Luck.
