How do I update my firmware when I am prompted that a firmware update is available?

i am prompted in an email to login to update firmware i downloaded but the user name and id wont work. what are they asking for the registered user name and password?????

    Where did this e-mail originate from, Netgear, your ISP? Can you post the contents here please (remove any identifying details)?
