How to connect  Cable Model / GS728TPv2 managed switch / R8500 Nighthawk Router

Please help me guide what is the best combination to connect  Cable Model / GS728TPv2 managed switch / R8500 Nighthawk Router 

I am not able to connect Cable Model -> GS728TPv2 managed switch -> R8500 Nighthawk Router 

However Cable Model -> R8500 Nighthawk Router -> GS728TPv2 managed switch is working

       Sure you are.  Things just won't work properly if you do it.
