    I read the message where it won't work as a router only. Aw-shucks! Purchased a new Netgear WiFi router.

Any C series modem is already a modem/router combo. They can only work in this mode or Modem Only mode. Not router mode. 

You could keep the CM which are modem only units, then attached a external NetGear router it it.

The C6300 is only good as a paperweight to me. It is DOCSIS 3.0.

    FInd a place to sell the C series modem/router. Someone may find it handy for them.
