I have a Nighthawk C7100V. Using ethernet cord.

I hope someone can make it less stressful for a novis senior PC user to unhook my new Win 10 machine from the ethernet cord so I can hook up an old PC 7 to download software that will erase my hard drive so I can donate this PC.  Is it a big tado to disconnect the ethernet connection temporarily from the new PC and connect it to the old PC so I can accomplish this?  What kind of hoops do I have to jump through to do this.  Or would I be better off to take the PC to an expert and pay to have this hard drive cleaned of my data?  Thanks to any expert users that will take pity and help me out.  Thanks in advance

I don't know what a "tado" is, but no.  Go ahead.

A C7100V has four LAN Ethernet ports.  Why not connect both computers
at the same time?  Have you only one cable?

Yes, I only have one cable.  I don't mind buying another if that would make my life easier.
