Intermittent packet loss
I tried to search through the forum to prevent posting previously covered topics. None of the previously discussed posts seemed identical to my issue. I have been having intermittent packet loss for several months. I bought the current modem 6 months ago. I seem to have terrible luck with modems as I have to replace them every 12-16 months. I can go hours, if not longer, without packet loss, but when it hits it hits hard. The episodes of packet loss usually occur for about 20-30 seconds with having episodes for about 20-30 minutes then they happen. I did rent a modem from Cox to help troubleshoot the issue. I interestingly had the same issue shortly after activating the modem. This did resolve after the initial episode having 36 hours of running with only 3 lost packets. I am not sure if this means that my modem is not functioning properly or if Cox is giving connectivity preference to users using their rented equipment (if this is even possible.) I ping the modem at the same time that I am pinging Google. I do not have any packet loss pinging the modem when I have the loss pinging Google. I attached a picture of what the packet loss looks like. The picture of the packet loss is when the Cox modem was connected. The packet loss has the same general look when I have the CM500 modem attached. I also posted the modem event log as well. The computer doing the "diagonsing" is hard-wired. The packet loss occurs across all devices. The modem is connected to a Linksys EA7300, but the issue occurs when only having my computer connected to the modem.
Thanks for your time.
