Internet Speed Issues: R7000P and C7000v2 combo
I’m currently running Spectrum’s 1Gbps plan through a C7000v2 router/modem combo and a R7000p router (current firmware V1.3.3.154_10.1.86). My speed tests however are showing I’m only getting 100-150m...
- I ended up factory resetting both which seem to clear the problem. I tested the 5G connection on my phone and laptop while connected wirelessly to the R7000p router. The speed test show Wi-Fi is maxing out at 500mpbs as you said. Im now considering upgrading the modem from the C7000v2 to the CM2000 (approved for spectrum 1g) while still using the R7000p as the router.
the C7000 is only approved on the spectrums "up to 500mbps" plan.
I'd either downgrade your plan or switch to a modem/modem/router approved by spectrum.

How are you testing speeds? Wired? Wireless? What band? What device are you testing speeds with?
Are you testing connected to the C7000 or the R7000p? What do you get on each?

There is a general view among those of us who spend too much time playing with these things that it pays to have separate modems and routers. Some ISPs don't like this, but what the heck?
In that way you can pick a router of your own choice, and that invariably gives you more options than with combination boxes like the C7000.
While the R7000P may be perfect for your needs if you don't do anything fancy, it is getting a bit long in the tooth. Netgear has removed some features that it had when launched back in 2017. But if the USB support is essential, avoid things like Orbi and the MK series, which don't support ReadySHARE. (I keep an old R7800 in AP mode for that purpose.)
