IPv6 Bug In R7000 Live Parental Controls with OpenDNS

Hi Folks,

I noticed recently that OpenDNS Live Parental Controls stopped working.  I discovered that it is because my ISP has launched native IPv6 support.  OpenDSN says to configure the IPv6 DNS resolvers to ::ffff:d043:dedc (and ::ffffd043:dcde), which are the IPv6 representations of the IPv4 addresses.

However, when trying to save the IPv6 addresses in the R7000 Primary and Secondary DNS fields, it does not accept an address with 0000 as the prefix.  An error box appears that says "The primary DNS server is not valid; it has to be a global unicast address".

Questions:

1. Anyone know a work around? I can get Parental controls to work if I disable IPv6 or if I put an invalid address as the IPV6 DNS as it falls back to IPv4.

2. Enableing Live Parental Controls should configure the IPv6 OpenDNS correctly.  Anyone know how to let netgear know they have missed this?

Thanks for your help.

      Hi

      It is the R7000.  I will try to see how to select the right forum.

      The OpenDNS addresses you pointed to:

      2620:0:ccc::2

      2620:0:ccd::2

      Are the "sandbox" addresses and they do not support filtering.  You have to enter the IPV4 equivelent addresses I provided to get filtering with IPV6

        I believe sandbox are the ones supporting filtering.

        I hope you are not trying to "convert" ipv4 to Ipv6. that wont work.
