ISP Claims CM2000 Can't Handle 2.5gb?

Supported speeds is up to the ISP and there CMTS vendors. 
Yes, the CM2000 has a 2.5Gb WAN port in back and can handle up to that. 

 

Are you speed testing with a wired PC connected to the back of the CM modem? 
Also does this PC have a 2.5Gb or higher speed ethernet adapter installed? 

What's the brand and model# of the host router when it's connected? Also this router should have a 2.5Gb or higher speed WAN and LAN ports to see anything past 900Mbps.

Thanks for your reply! I've previously gotten these speeds with my current Modem and router setup with the same ISP. When speaking with them, they claim they cannot provide the 1.5gb I pay for because the Modem does not support it. When doing the speedtest, I'm on a desktop PC hardwired into my router, which is hardwired into the CM 2000 Modem. So naturally, I would expect a small drop, but not from what should be a 1.5gb to 750-800mbs. 

 

And the fact my ISP claims MY equipment (the CM 2000) does not support the speed is what has me fuming. 

 

As for your technical questions here are some answers: 

  • PC does have a 2.5 GB ethernet port cable is connected into. I've confirmed I'm on the ethernet connection and not the wifi. I have a ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E Motherboard. 

As for my Router:

  • ASUS GT-AX6000 ROG Rapture Wireless Router. (Which claims to also support 2.5GB)

 

I wish I even saw at least 900 MBS at this point... Let me know if you have any other thoughts FURRYe38

      Does the Astound plan you buy provide symmetrical up/down throughput?  If not, what is the upload throughput supplied with your 1.5 Gbps download?

        It's 1.5GB download only, they do not provide specs for upload speeds unfortunately. I have an appointment for them to come check the lines on the exterior next week. But I still fail to understand where they get off saying the MAC address is telling them it can't handle 1.5...

        It's like someone arguing that McDonalds doesn't sell a large sized fry and it never did ... SMH

      Funny thing is I did refer them to the spec sheet. They first said that "I was sharing info for a modem I didn't own... that netgear makes the same model that's only capable of 1GB speeds" ... They don't? Then they claimed that Netgear was lying, then they claimed I was lying. Then deflected to that "they can't provide more speeds than the MAC address claims it can support. I'm not sure why the device's MAC address would say it does not support a 2.5, nor do I understand how they get that information from the MAC address?
