Suddenlink just called and we went through their proceedure to update the C6300 firmware but it did not take. I was talking to a supervisor and not the 1st call responders. Now what Netgear?

I am with cox they told me they cannot upgrade my modem. I do not know how we are able to update firmware when isp will not do it. I am also having problems with ethernet cable not downloading and uploading. cox said my modem shows critical for downloading and uploading.

I am having the exact same issue right now. Netgear told me I needed to have suddenlink update to v.2.01.18...
suddenlink representative said there was no way they could do this....
So frustrating.

I really think that this is a Netgear and Suddenlink issue that is affecting the consumer. So Netgear needs to contact Suddenlink and get this resolved. If not, I for one will not be a future Netgear customer. I'm stuck with Suddendeath, that what I call them from many experiences with them, since they are the sole high speed provider in my area but not with Netgear. We the consumers have options there. So Netgear please fix this issue!!!!!!!!!

Yes I completely agree. I will certainly not purchase from neatgear again.
Very dissapointed.

Netgear provides the firmware to the ISP and then they have to make changes and certify the firmware. Then they release it when they feel its ready.

It's all fine and dandy DarrenM, but not when Netgear telephone support is telling you the reason your wifi is slow is because your firmware is outdated. I was literally told by a tech expert to tell my ISP to upgrade my firmware. They should already know this is not possible and therefore should not suggest it and waste consumers time.

Correct. We know that. BUT the problem is the ISP's deny any responsibility and thus us consumers never get our firmware updated. We the consumer need NETGEAR to be more proactive in dealing with the ISP'S to protect us the consumer. This is a pointing game in which we the consumer loses out! So NETGEAR get off your butt and fix this with the ISP's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You apparently are NOT COMMUNICATING WELL WITH THE ISP's!

With Suddenlink, it's even worse:
Section 37 of Suddenlink's Residential Services Agreement:
Upgrades. Customer acknowledges that the Equipment is merely a means through which the High Speed Internet Service is provided by Suddenlink and may be removed or changed by Suddenlink at its discretion as it deems appropriate, including through "uploads" to Customer's computer(s) or otherwise. Whether the cable modem is owned by Customer or Suddenlink, Suddenlink shall have the unrestricted right, but not the obligation, to upgrade the firmware in the cable modem at any time that Suddenlink, in its sole discretion, determines it is necessary or desirable. Customer assumes all responsibility for any degradation in or problems from the failure to upgrade. Suddenlink does not represent, warrant or covenant that installation and modifications of peripheral devices, including Network cards, computer equipment, software, computer files and other system configuration files necessary to operate the High Speed Internet Service will not disrupt or delay the normal operations of Customer's computer device(s) or associated equipment. Suddenlink shall have no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage or outage resulting from the above. Upon Customer request and, at Suddenlink's sole discretion, for an additional charge, Suddenlink or its agents may install certain software, an extra cable receptacle, a cable modem and associated equipment for operation of the High Speed Internet Service. If installed by Suddenlink, Suddenlink shall use reasonable efforts to install the High Speed Internet Service to a fully operational status.
Not only is Suddenlink the only one allowed to upgrade gateway devices, they place the liability on the consumer for their (suddenlink's) failure to upgrade the devices, that once again, only they (suddenlink) can upgrade.
