Issue getting to router admin settings page

I'm trying to access the router admin page to change the setting to modem only (in order to set up Google Nest router and bypass the router of the Netgear router/modem combo), but when I go to routerlogin.net and enter the username (admin) and password (password) it takes me to a password reset page with no other options to navigate to the basic homepage and change the modem settings. Do I HAVE to change my password in order to access the settings page?
