Laptop isn't finding 5ghz signal from router ac1750 c6300

My laptop, which I've already verified is able to be connected to a 2.4 ad a 5ghz band isn't able to find the broadcast signal. I find this odd being that the router is definitely broadcasting the signal because my iphone is able to connect to it just fine, as is my smart tv, ps4, and wife's LG G5. I've tried adding the network manually which it allows me to do, but doesn't give me the option to connect. I've done some research and am coming up empty. I tried to update the firmware but can't find a link to do so when I login to the router settings, and from what I'm gathering I may need to contact suddenlink to push it to me?

None of this is making sense to me. I'm pretty capable (not a genius)  when it comes to this type of thing and I'm still unable to find a solution.

Please someone give me an answer. I'm out of ideas.

Have you tried to update the wireless drivers on your laptop.
