Then you need some experiment to do. Don't position too close to a wall. From present position start out turning router upto 90 deg. in increment measuring signal level. Then play with antenna stick tilp, bend, etc. Vertical antenna supposes to radiate 360 deg. on theory but in reality the radiation pattern distorts caused by many factors. Also radiation angle. Antenna engineering is very complex empirical stuff. When you talk about gain on an antenna it comes with radiatio. 1 is perfect). If SWR is high it can even damage the radio or cause poor erp wasting RF energy as heat.
Generally good router location in a house is higher, central location.
