monitor software for CM1000 / auto detect cable rf signal issues and forward
Hello,
We are are 12 miles from the nearest monitored network connection for xfinity. There are several hundreds of people on our line but it is passively managed by comcast via clients calling in when they have problems.
Is there a product sw or hw or cm1000 enhancement to monitor the state of the docsis 3.1 cable line metrics (dbmv, snr, errors etc) and send notification out when they are consistently outside a desired threshold?
Basically, I would like to monitor and know when the line is starting to fail and proactively call the ISP to address their line issues. Trees, storms, water, etc cause the lines to degrade or equip. The lines are not managed.
I would pay for some enhancement to a CM1000 or add another piece of gear in band to do this.
Thoughts?
Thank you in advance
take care
Mike

I presume there maybe some form of device that can connect on the coax side of things to monitor signal and such. I presume something like ISPs have. Weather or not thats availalbe at the consumer level, I would not bank on it. Anything at the modem level or after, there just isn't much that would do what you ask. You can try and check out pingplotter.com, this is a ethernet level diganotic program what can help you in some ways.
