My C3700 cable modem/router periodically kicks off my iphone6

My router works great - usually. But periodically my iphone 6 (ios 9.3.1) gets kicked off the 2.5G network. My phone still sees the network, but I can't connect to the internet on it. Meanwhile my Android TV, which is connected to the same network, has no trouble. I usually have to switch off wifi on my phone or switch over to my 5G network, which usually works for a while -- till my phone automatically shifts me back to the 2.5G network. I have to repeat this process every day or so, which is a giant nuiscance. Anyone know what's going on here? I'm not super tech savvy, so please keep that in mind if you have a technical fix. Thanks!

I have seen with iphones sometimes changing the security type on the wifi then telling the iOS device to forget the network and reconnect to the network will sometimes work for these issues.
