My C6300 drops all connections

My C6300 router keeps dropping all internet connections for short amounts of time every hour or so. I have spectrum internet and when I called they were not helpful and told me to just restart my router. Also when I run a network diagnostic on my computer (connected by Ethernet) it says that it cannot connect to the primary dns server. I’ve tried to change the dns server on the router from Spectrums to google but the issue still has occured. Is it the router causing this issue or my ISP?

  • I have had a 6300 Cable Modem Router for a year now, and up to now was working well.  Lately it has started dropping Internet connectivity for all connected devices. I have already spent two hours with my ISP support people checking the service on their end, and they tell me that it is working well. So that leaves only the 6300 as the suspect.  When I lose connectivity to the Internet (and it's on all devices), I unplug the 6300 and restart it.  Then I have connectivity until the next episode which could be minutes or hours later.  It's very random. Is my 6300 defective or can it be fixed?

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in between the modem and ISP service box.
