Which firmware version are you on? The minimum to support the app is 6.01.07.
If you're on a older one, you SOL. Then you'd need to use the browser to manage it. That's my preferred method anyway as the app is super basic.

Unfortunately it was sold with firmware 3.0.X, so yes, my ios app is useless.

The C7800 should still work fine and is a docsis 3.1 modem. So it should be plenty fast.
Just that you can't manage it through the app for your ISP.

Again, I'm not a huge fan of the app anyway but it is convenient.

As an alternative, one could configure the C7800 for modem only mode, then connect up a more modern generation external wifi Nighthawk system that would take advantage of the NH app and something that you will have more management abilities with.
