my wifi router password changed in the middle of the night to vinilla boat
lost wifi for all devices due to a password change. I don't think I have been hacked. Is it possible or did the router hiccup??? No support from netgear sucks!

2 different passwords.
I am able to login in. I change the wifi pass back to what it was.
is vanilla boat a default password for wifi? that is what it was changed to.
Can this change happen by its self? That is the question?
hard to believe that I was hacked

The default Wi-FI password is definitely not two words with a space in between. I am really surprised it even worked.
The change cannot happen by itself without other changes along with it. Such as a firmware default reset that changes the user interface password to default (password) plus the Wi-Fi SSID and password to the default values printed on the label plate on the back of the device.
If you suspect it happened without your help, better change both the user interface password along with the Wi-Fi connection password to something different.
Do you have automatic firmware updates enabled? If yes, recommend you turn them off.
If you review the connected devices list, can you positively identify each and every device that is connected?
