N300 router and CM500 modem

I recently got the CM500 cable modem for my new Xfinity internet and I'm using my previous router, WNR2000v5.

The router has the constant Amber Internet light and the modern has a flashing Amber Ethernet light.

I was able to access the internet on my laptop by connecting it directly to the modem but when trying to use Wi-Fi I'm unable to connect. Is the WNR2000v5 router compatible with the CM500 modem or is there a better option?

Have you tried to factory reset the router by holding the reset button for 10+ seconds?

CM500's ethernet light will flash AMBER if it is 10/100 ethernet. I believe WNR2000v5 is only 10/100 (NOT GIGABIT 1000BaseT) and that is why it is flashing Amber.

you should factory reset WNR2000v5 and if it does not work, post the screenshots of the internet settings page here. Also, anytime you change devices behind modem (changing from PC to WNR2000v5, and vice-versa,) reboot the modem.
