N3000 Front Panel

I am looking for documentation to tell me what the lights on the front panel of the C3000 mean, and if they should be constant or blinking.  In particular, the Lightning bolt down and the lightning bolt going up,  I  figure they have to do with upload and download, but should they blink?  I replaced my older modem with the N3000 because I was having horrible connectivity issues.  I am on the internet with the N3000, though slower than I was with a motorola surfboard.  If everything is working properly, should all my lights be constant?

Thanks!

  • According to the manual, blinking upstream or downstream means that the modem is scanning.  It looks like the lights should be solid during normal operation.

Thanks, I found the manual online after I submitted my question.  Getting a manual only located on the internet, when getting on the internet is why you need a manual is a problem.  Unfortunately the documentation included with the modem didn't include troubleshooting, or what the lights meant.

Fair point.  Since you were able to post here means you had an alternate form of Internet access.

Anyway, the blinking lights suggest that your Internet connection is not stable.  Is this a new hookup or did you replace an existing modem?  In any case, you may need to contact your ISP.  Did you already register your modem with your ISP?  This usually entails giving them your modem's MAC address.
