N450 Cable modem/router is intermittent

Just got this new Netgear N450 Cable modem/router.  It seems to work well with one exception.  I use Vonage for my telephone and the connection drops out for one to five seconds once or twice a minute.  I never had this problem with my old Arris modem supplied by Time Warner and to double check, I went back the the Arris and there were no problems.  It's a pain to go back and forth because you have to call TWC and go through the provisioning process.

 

I spent an hour on the phone with Vonage support and he had me adjust firewall settings and add the Vonage box to DMZ and none of these things worked.

 

Do I have a bad N450 or is there a setting I can adjust that the Vonage folks didn't know about?

    BobHatcher What's the exact model and version of your NETGEAR device?

    You may want to check if adjusting the MTU will work.

      Too late.  I returned it and got the Motorola/Arris model.  That one worked right out of the box and has been flawless.  The five hours I spent with the Netgear box trying to get it to work were wasted.
